Japan fails to see recovery in capital spending
Business confidence in Japan improved for a second quarter running, but the outlook for spending and profitability remains weak, according to a survey by the Bank of Japan on Thursday.
The central bank’s widely followed Tankan survey of business sentiment showed that confidence among large manufacturers had recovered significantly in the June to September quarter from a record low level registered at the end of March this year.
The diffusion index reflecting business sentiment among Japan’s large manufacturers recovered to minus 33 from minus 48 in the April to June quarter
