Despite ‘toughest season’ David Ortiz still a power threat for Red Sox
If the Red Sox have played better baseball this season, they’ve certainly never been more dangerous than now. A big reason is David Ortiz. He calls this “my toughest season” and he was written off more than once. Now, with the playoffs beckoning, he is again one of the game’s most lethal sluggers.
The designated hitter had a home run and three RBI in Friday night’s 9-5 loss to the Yankees at the Stadium. He’s hit a home run in three straight games and knocked in 10 runs over that span bringing his season totals to 27 homers and 94 RBI. It’s hard to believe it’s the same hitter who was batting .196 with two home runs and 22 RBI on June 6.
